Which Wii Fitness Game Should You Choose?

Since the weather has gotten a bit cooler, I am anticipating that my mornings walking and running outside are a but numbered. The goose bumps I get as I start out are a clear indication that although the fall may be perfect for exercising outdoor, the winter surely won't.

I remember when Wii Fit came out and how I really wanted to get this game, to help me do some indoor workouts. A friend of mine who borrows the game on occasion says that she loves it. It is a bit pricey when you factor in having to use a balance board.

Since Wii Fit launched, there have been several other fitness games for the Wii, giving us more choice. But how do we know which game is the best?

Fortunately, Game Informer Magazine compared the current Wii fitness games side by side, evaluating their strengths and weaknesses. Professional fitness trainer, Keith Nelson did the reviews. Here is a link to the magazine's website, although I do have to warn you that they also review M rated and horror games, in case the screen capture of a blood-covered zombie offends you. http://www.gameinformer.com/default.htm

The five games that were reviewed are: Wii Fit, My Fitness Coach, Jillian Michaels' Fitness Ultimatum 2009, EA Active and Gold's Gym Cardio Workout. Out of these games, Jillian Michaels' was the worse, scoring only 1 out of 5.

There were two fitness games that were tied for the best score, 4.5 out of 5. These were EA Active and Gold's Gym. EA Active looks like the clear winner for me, simply because it contains a variety of exercises and activities whereas Gold's Gym is mostly boxing (although if you love boxing, you'll get a professional workout. EA also makes it harder to cheat, according to the Game Informer review.

Wii Fit came in at 2.5 out of 5, and My Fitness Coach was rated at 2 out of 5.
