The Carol Duvall Show

I love to watch the Carol Duvall show on HGTV or online. For one thing, Carol is so friendly and warm. She reminds me of one of my aunts. In fact she’s so friendly, I feel like I call her Carol instead of Ms. Duvall. Carol is also known as the “Queen of Crafts”, and for good reason. She’s been at this craft business for a long time and doing TV crafting since the late 1980’s. The main reason I love the show is for the projects. Every show has a guest artist or crafter demonstrating step by step instructions … Continue reading

Polymer Clay

Polymer clay is one of our favorite craft project mediums. At first the clay just seemed a step up from play doh. We quickly learned though how versatile it is. And why real artists are using it for their art. The clay stays soft until it is cooked. So you can work on your sculptures for days. That’s one of my favorite parts. Sometimes as a mother, it’s hard to find uninterrupted time to do crafts. You don’t need a kiln for this clay, it bakes in regular ovens and even toaster ovens at low temperature. It’s actually not clay … Continue reading

Mission Organization – TV Review

Some people enjoy watching TV shows that have million dollar homes. Not me. I drool over Mission Organization on HGTV. Sad, huh? But I love watching junky rooms transformed into gleaming organized spaces in the space of a half an hour. It gives me hope for my own house. At the beginning of each show, host Gail O’Neill tours a disorganized room in a family home. She then sends in a professional organizer to work with the family. The show has a team of organizers and a few guest organizers. I’ve seen shows on garages, kitchens, bedrooms, playrooms, family rooms, … Continue reading

Freestyle Decorating – TV Review

Right now, like many young families, we don’t have a lot of money for new furniture or decorator items. I still want our house to be pretty though – inviting, and comfortable. That’s why I like the Freestyle decorating show on HGTV. They design rooms without spending any money! The earlier shows were hosted by Aaron Foster. The current shows are hosted by Evan Farmer, who you might recognize from The Learning Channel’s show While You Were Out. On each show, three rooms are redecorated by professional designers using the furniture and decorating accessories that the homeowners already have. The … Continue reading
