Eventually becoming tired of the search for answers, and finding none, Sandy decided to take matters into her own hands. By incorporating the principles she put into this book, she was able to heal her own liver. When she went in for her regular testing, her doctor was amazed to see that her enzymes were completely normal. How did she do it? By going organic. The author spends the next portion of the book explaining the affects various different substances have on our bodies. We learn about hormones, antibiotics and E-coli. We read about seafood, pesticides and fertilizers. Then we are educated as to what foods we can eat to improve our body's immune system, such as carrots, cantaloupe, and apricots. We learn how eating whole grains will naturally give us the vitamin E we need. The last segment of the book is nothing but healthy recipes. I haven't had the chance to try any of them yet, but they sound delicious. We can sample things like beef stew, fajitas, pork roast, and pineapple bread, all made in ways that are better for us than the traditional recipes. I enjoyed reading this book. My husband is a bit of a health nut and we're always looking at new ideas for improving our lifestyle. This book is written in an informative, yet approachable way, and I didn't feel like I had to have a degree in health and nutrition to understand what the author was talking about. If you're interested in learning why you should go organic, this would be a good reference book for you. (This book was published in 2008 by iUniverse.)
