Now that graduation is around the corner for most kids, many people are looking for that perfect graduation gift. Rather than purchase your graduate a card, or some novelty item. Consider purchasing them a book instead. One of the best graduation gifts I ever received was the book "Oh, the Places You'll Go!" by Dr. Seuss. The book starts out "Congratulations! Today is your day. You're off to great places! You're off and away!". The main character in the book is off on their own for the first time. The entire book is about making your own choices whether they be good or bad and the obstacles you will run into along the way. The book tells children that there are lots of places in the world to go and important and difficult decisions to make along the way. I think that this book was actually read at my high school graduation. It's an appropriate book to give younger kids, as well as older kids who are graduating and moving on to middle school, high school, college, or even just going on into the "real world". Younger children will see it as a book about a man traveling around the world and making choice. Older kids and even adults will be able to see how the book actually applies to their everyday lives. For instance one of the lines "Out there things can happen and frequently do to people as brainy and footsy as you. And when things start to happen, don't worry. Don't stew. Just go right along. You'll start happening too!". This is a fantastic book I think makes the perfect gift for children and adults of any age who are off to do something different be it graduation, a new job, or moving to a new town. I am personally a fan of every book Dr. Seuss has ever written, so it has that going for it as well. You can purchase "Oh The Place's You'll Go" at most booksellers as well as online at Amazon.com.
