lauriWelcome to a new series here on Families.com, where you can learn more about the bloggers you read every day.

Today we are chatting with Lauri Griffin, who manages a literacy program for struggling readers.

Lauri, how long have you blogged for Families.com?

I started December 2007.

What topics do you blog about?

Family Fun and Media Reviews.

What is your favorite thing about blogging for Families.com?

I love to hear that someone used an idea from one of my blogs. Parenting is hard work. I try to mainly suggest things that don't take much time or money, things that just about anyone can do. I also like that I can combine my experience of motherhood with my love of children's literature, my education background. Blogging for Families.com is also a great excuse to read, to research fun things for my own family, and to keep discovering things like podcasts and magazines.

What do you like to do when you're not blogging?

I love to read. I often have three or four books going at once. It's not unusual for our family to have more than eighty library books checked out. I've published a couple of short stories and I'm working on some other fiction projects. I like to hike and visit over coffee with my friends. We live in a beautiful area of Colorado and I take a lot of pictures. I love to listen to music, old favorites and new discoveries. I'm just getting into altered books. My craft area is overrunning with sculpey clay, beads, and now all sorts of book making materials. I also love to travel.

You sound like a lot of fun! We may have to hang out sometime . . .
