After the Rains by Deborah Raney is book about a teenage missionary, a car accident, and redemption. The Confession is by well known Beverly Lewis and is about an Amish family, secrets, and shuning. "Firstborn" by Robin Lee Hatcher is a Christian novel about an unplanned pregnancy, lifelong secrets, and forgiveness. "Dragonflight" is a popular science fiction book by Anne McCaffrey.

For picture books, consider Treasure Hunt by Allan Ahlberg, a charming book about what and who are really treasures in our lives. "Blueberries for Sal" is a classic and well-loved picture book about a little girl, her mother, and two bears who get mixed up on a blueberry picking trip.

The Breadwinner by Deborah Ellis is recommended for middle graders. It's the story of a girl in Afghanistan posing as a boy to earn money for her family. The Cam Jansen mystery books are great first chapter books. "The Dangerous Book of Boys" has all kinds of activities, games, and general knowledge.

Do you want a way to keep track of what you've read and discuss books with other readers? Consider participating in GoodReads. Battle of the Books is a fun program for 4th through 12th grader readers.

For non-fiction, check out How Clean Is Your House - a book from the BBC show with all kinds of natural cleaning tips. If you need to organize your home, don't miss "Organizing From the Inside Out" by Julie Morgenstern. And makeup artist Carmindy from "TLC's What Not to Wear" has a book on "The Five Minute Face".

Author of "Reconstructing Natalie" Laura Jensen Walker joined the Medias Blog for a discussion on breast cancer, faith and humor. And in another segment she discuses awards and upcoming projects.
