Lullabies and Wildflowers - CD Review

Broadway actress and singer Melissa Errico has starred or featured in such plays as "My Fair Lady," "The Importance of Being Earnest," and "High Society." However, her life has led her to another starring role, that of being a mother.

When she was pregnant, she started attending a prenatal yoga class and felt an instant friendship with the twelve other women who were participating, all due the same week. As the class drew to a close, Melissa gathered everyone's e-mail address and they kept in touch, sharing birth stories and commiserating over the struggles.

As time went on, they stayed in touch, forming play groups, providing storytime for local libraries, holding chef parties and picnics, and most importantly, giving each other support and friendship. Now their original group has expanded to several sister groups and many more members are involved.

Melissa wanted to find a way to thank her friends for the positive impact they had made on her life, so she turned to her natural talents and created a music CD that to her, embodies the mission of the group and expresses her feelings about it. Called "Lullabies and Wildflowers," the music is soothing yet not dreary and is perfect for helping Mom to relax at the end of the day or for playing the background at play group.

Melissa's other recording credits include a critically-acclaimed record entitled "Blue Like This" and she frequently performs at better jazz clubs in the New York City area. Motherhood derailed her Broadway career "in a good way," she says. She now has the best of both worlds, performing and being a mother to Victoria, born early 2006. Her husband is Patrick McEnroe, tennis commentator.
