Jimmy Neutron

"Jimmy Neutron" is a definite favorite at our house. Appearing daily on Nickelodeon, the show is a combination of science, boyhood pranks, and just a little bit of rude humor. While the show is geared toward your seven-and-older set, we watch it as a family, from our two-year-old up to my husband (I won't tell you how old he is. He wouldn't appreciate it.)

Jimmy is a boy genius. His head has grown a bit large, to hold his incredible brain, and he even has a laboratory in his backyard. Most of his inventions work, too, but not always without side effects.

Two of my favorite Jimmy episodes:

Jimmy decides that one birthday a year just isn't enough, so he invents a brain-altering ray and zaps his parents into thinking that every day is his birthday. For about two weeks, he gets a party, presents, cake and ice cream every afternoon. He thinks he's died and gone to heaven, but soon the monotony gets to him, and to his friends, too - they get tired of showing up every day, having to bring presents, and watching the same boring magician Jimmy's parents hire. Finally he tries to zap his parents back, only to discover that they knew all along and were just yanking his chain to teach him a lesson. They then present him with a bill for two weeks' worth of cake, ice cream, decorations, and entertainment.

And who can forget the time Jimmy wants to help his good friend Carl overcome his nightmares? Jimmy comes up with a way for him to go into Carl's dreams, find out what's bothering him, and fix it. What he doesn't know is that Carl has some pretty strange dreams, many of them having to do with llamas (Carl's most favorite animal in the whole world)and Carl's secret desire to be as smart as Jimmy.

Foils to Jimmy's genius include Cindy, the cute blonde across the street. Jimmy has a crush on her, but wouldn't admit it for anything. There's a relationship in the offing there.

A little bit weird, definitely creative, frequently educational, and often laugh-out-loud funny, you will enjoy Jimmy Neutron.
