Have You Checked Out IMDB.com?by Tristi Pinkston | More from this Blogger 16 May 2008 11:45 PM I love the Internet Movie Database. I use it frequently as I'm blogging over in Movie Reviews. If you haven't visited this site, you really should go take a look. When the homepage comes up, you can see at a glance which movies are coming out that week and which movies are doing the best at the box office. There's also a list of what movies are coming out in the theaters in future weeks, and what DVDs are being released. It's a great way to keep your finger on the pulse of movie entertainment. Off to the side is a little box that tells you which stars are having their birthday. Did you know that today is Pierce Brosnan's birthday? Happy Birthday, you! (He's always been a favorite of mine-what a nice coincidence that I get to celebrate his birthday with him, even though he'll never know.) There's also a great search feature that I use extensively. You can search for a specific movie or actor. Let's say I want to know more about the movie "Pirates of the Caribbean." When I put that into the search field, up comes a list of all the movies that fit that description. All three movies in the "Pirates" trilogy are there, and I just click on the one I want. When I do that, up comes a plot summary, a synopsis (although to be honest, I'm not sure why they have a synopsis and a summary, as they're largely the same thing) information on the directors and producers, and then a list of the stars. I can click on the stars' names and see their biography and their filmography, which is a list of every film they've ever made. When that list comes up, I can click on the titles of the movies that interest me, and learn more about them. It's all linked together to bring you as much information as possible. You can even register to use the message boards and see what other users thought about certain films. Or, see trailers to movies that interest you. So, if you want to learn more about a certain movie, see who's in it, check out what other viewers thought, and see what other movies the stars have made, go check out IMDB.com.
