Author Review: Stephenie Meyerby Tristi Pinkston | More from this Blogger 18 Oct 2007 08:00 PM Hitting the literary world like a whirlwind with her debut novel "Twilight" and not letting up for a single second, Stephenie Meyer is one of the most talk-about authors currently publishing. I thought it would be interesting to take a closer look at Stephenie and her unique series. Stephenie is a Latter-day Saint. She won a National Merit Scholarship and graduated from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, with a bachelor's degree in English. She is married and lives in Phoenix with her husband, who she has known since she was four years old. Together they have three sons. She counts herself as an Arizona native, having lived there most of her life. Stephanie says that she got the idea for "Twilight" from a dream about a vampire and a young girl. This dream later became chapter 13, "Confessions," in the book. She was so intrigued by the dream and the characters that from that day on, she spent time fleshing out the story. She decided to use the location of Forks because it gets the greatest amount of rainfall of anywhere in the United States, and once all the pieces fell into place, she was writing like crazy. As the book reached completion, she realized she wasn't ready to let go of her characters and began working on the two sequels. She says that the movie option for "Twilight" has been purchased, and a spot for it has been set up on the Internet Movie Data Base. While the author never gets to pick who should play the characters, she did have the chance to talk with those involved in the planning process and share her feelings on the topic. The next book in the series is "New Moon," followed by the newly released "Eclipse." Future releases include "Breaking Dawn" and "Midnight Sun," in which we will hear the story from Edward's point of view. Already world famous and critically acclaimed, it's exciting to see what Stephenie Meyer will turn out over the next few years. I know that I, for one, will be seeing that movie when it's made.
