More Failed Doomsday Predictions – Part 3

Here we are, three days after the predicted rapture. I read on the news that Harold Camping is laying low since the non-rapture and word is that the Family Radio will have a response coming in the next week. Hon-Ming Chen founded the God’s Salvation Church in the early ‘90s. He predicted God would show up on television on March 31, 1998 to save us all. When that didn’t happen, to prove himself to his followers, Chen offered to be stoned or crucified. No one took him up on his offer and the church soon disbanded. Broadcaster turned psychic Charles … Continue reading

Author Interview – Ginger Carlson – Part Two

Welcome to the second part of our interview with Ginger Carlson, author of Child of Wonder: Nurturing Creative and Naturally Curious Children. LG: Parents are busy today, how can they have time to do something extra? GC: The great thing about creativity, and nurturing it, is that it is something that doesn’t take extra time. It is easily incorporated into what you are already doing. The activities in Child of Wonder are actually wonderful for working parents as well as stay-at-home parents, both of whom might find themselves short of time for different reasons. As Melissa Hart says in the … Continue reading

Author Interview – Ginger Carlson – Part One

Last week I reviewed Child of Wonder, by Ginger Carlson. Today Ms. Carlson joins us for a few questions on creativity and nurturing wonder in children. LG? Where did your interest in nurturing creativity and curiosity begin? GC: I think I have always had an innate interest in creativity because I was reared in a family where an importance was placed on being creative and my own natural curiosities were always nurtured. Then, it was sort of reborn during the time I spent teaching in an urban school in Los Angeles in the early 1990’s. I was hyper aware of … Continue reading

Everyday Matters – Danny Gregory

The title Everyday Matters is a play on words. The book is about things that most of us see on a daily basis, the views from our windows, the canisters on our kitchen counters, our children’s toys, the pictures on our mantels. But at the same time the title emphasizes that each and every day is of importance. Together both phrases emphasize that life matters, and that the little daily things we touch, and see and do all matter. Before he wrote this book the author, Danny Gregory, lived with his wife Patti, their baby son, and their dog in … Continue reading

Wreck This Journal – Keri Smith

There’s nothing quite like a beautiful journal. They beckon, but they can also intimidate. Sometimes what you want to write or doodle doesn’t seem quite important or beautiful enough to go on those gorgeous handmade paper pages. Creativity is sometimes messy though. And to have the freedom to be creative, sometimes you need to write or draw things that aren’t perfect or pretty. And that’s why I like the Wreck This Journal by Keri Smith. It’s a paper back journal with sturdy pages. The pages are printed with directions. Some of the directions are silly. One page wants you to … Continue reading

Linda, is there a message or a driving force behind your work, or any common themes that run throughout? Hmm. I’ve always had an innate need to write.
