Author Interview - Anne Bradshaw, Part Twoby Tristi Pinkston | More from this Blogger 14 Dec 2006 09:49 AM
Both novels take place in Britain in the 1960s. Most of the labor missionary incidents actually happened to my husband and friends and have been fictionalized to fit the plot. The first book is "Terracotta Summer" and its sequel is "Chamomile Winter."
Fueled with fear and loathing, Ruth runs into an unsuspected web of intrigue and romance onboard ship. Back in England, the rest of Ruth's family put their faith through fire as nephew Patrick's rebellion and nephew Ken's misfortune strike close to home. Trouble follows the O'Sheas. Fleeing from the past, Ruth finds herself trapped in a dangerous drug ring. Fielding the present, labor missionary Ken is forced to stand tall for his beliefs, and politically minded Patrick falls away to the Irish Republican Army.
The moment Patrick O'Shea leaves prison in Manchester, England, for his parents' new home in the quiet village of Eglinton, Northern Ireland, it seems his life is about to change for the better. Lack of direction soon rekindles rebellion, plunging him head-first into dangerous dilemmas he cannot handle alone. At the same time, Ken struggles with yet another difficult missionary companion, this time in Southport, England. Ruth returns to England, turning up where she's least expected, grappling with a turn of events she could never have imagined possible. A family bound by the Gospel of Jesus Christ is tested and torn as forgiveness meets repentance, and faith promises new beginnings. The fire of the Spirit sparks the O'Shea's as they turn back to God, and discover ancestral roots on burnished Irish soil. I understand that you're working on making those books into a screenplay? The screenplay is already finished. California screenwriter Jeanne McKinney and I adapted the two novels into a full length feature film called "Season of Fire". Unfortunately, the cost of production is high and no one has yet come forward with enough funding to make it happen. What are you working on now? I'm putting the finishing touches to a Young Adult Mystery/Sci-Fi novel for the National market. This has been a long time under construction as we've gone through a house move and several other disruptions during the last two years. However, I'm hoping that early in 2007 it will be ready to go agent searching. I have another book ready for publication - a collection of short stories for LDS youth which I'm hoping will hit bookstores in 2007. I also have several children's short stories finished and am writing more of them. I'm currently working as PR person for Jeanne McKinney, whose exciting animated family trilogy, "City of Gold", creeps ever nearer the silver screen. The story takes place in 16th century Valley of Mexico, in and around the ruling capital Atua, which resembles Mexico's Tenochtitlán. Mystery, intrigue, rebellion and romance swirl around this ancient island city in the opening scenes of the first script in the series, "City of Gold-An Eagle is Born". It sounds fascinating. Let's conclude our conversation tomorrow, Anne, and I hope the rest of you can join us as well. Related Blogs: H. B. Moore's Out of Jerusalem Series Author Interview -- Robert H.
